Dear ALLSA Members and Allergy Enthusiasts,

2010 is a special year for South Africa. During this year we will be hosting the worlds largest sporting event, The Soccer World Cup. Despite this focus of our attention we are hoping to highlight allergy as an important medical problem in South Africa. To this end we bring you the latest ALLSA Congress; ‘Allergy – Back to Basics’. It is time to forge new horizons in Allergology in South Africa.

Hence our first ever Congress in Limpopo. This particular meeting will highlight some basic concepts for the allergy novice as well as remind the expert just how things work. We trust there will be something for everyone. The Programme you see attached is an attempt to marry aspects of continuing education in allergy and cutting-edge new scientific thoughts. We are proud that our local experts have agreed to attend and share their wisdom. We trust you will be there and participate in this important event. So just before world cup fever truly hits home, bring the family, bring your golf clubs and come along for the ride. We look forward to seeing you there!

Dear Colleagues and Participants,

I would like to welcome you to the 2010 ALLSA congress, the first ever to be held in our Province, Limpopo. This is indeed a historic occasion and we are privileged to be part thereof. Our theme for the congress is ‘Allergy in the bush’, and we are planning to go back to the basics of allergology. We have a good programme lined up for you so that our patients can benefit from the knowledge you will acquire from your participation. Please come and take part in this historic occasion and also enjoy the hospitality of Euphoria estate.

We are privileged that our honourable National Minister of Health, Dr. Aaron Motswaledi, has agreed to come and open the congress officially despite his busy schedule. It will be great for you to take this opportunity, time permitting, to come and interact with him socially. Please feel welcome to our ‘allergy in the bush’ congress!!

Kind Regards,

Dr Sam Risenga.
